The Hammond Redevelopment Commission on Tuesday adopted Resolution 2025-17 approving an annual agreement with Purdue University Northwest to use tax-increment financing (TIF) funds for the commission’s College Bound program.
Staff told the commission the agreement is a recurring arrangement, and stated, "the amount that we have allotted for this is 1,100,000 each year, that goes from our TIF funding into the college bound program." Commissioner Myricks moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Tomage seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded five 'Yes' votes and the resolution passed.
The agreement authorizes the commission to allocate the stated yearly TIF amount to the College Bound program administered in partnership with Purdue University Northwest. Staff said the commission signs a similar agreement annually and will finalize paperwork following the vote.
What's next: staff will finalize the executed agreement and return any required documentation to the commission; annual reporting on TIF expenditures to support the program is expected as part of the implementation.
