Monrovia advances purchase agreement for 645 kW solar/storage at Mountain Avenue Reservoir

Monrovia moved forward with a purchase/lease agreement with ING for a solar energy and storage installation at the Mountain Avenue Reservoir, the city’s backup emergency power site, according to hosts’ Dec. 16 recap.

Hosts described the project as a rooftop solar field on the covered reservoir near Lemon and Mountain that will not be visible from the street. They reported the system will generate approximately 645 kilowatts and that the model for the project is to reduce what the city pays to the local utility by contracting ING to build and manage the installation under an agreement discussed at the meeting.

The podcast emphasized that maps and presentation materials were shown at the meeting and that the location is near the Boys & Girls Club. The hosts described the purchase/lease structure as an RFP-managed contract with ING taking on site management responsibilities.
