Board approves classroom interactive board replacements, school calendar and personnel items

Enid Public Schools trustees gave unanimous approval to several operational items: replacing aging classroom smart boards in elementary schools, adopting the upcoming school calendar, and approving listed personnel actions.

District staff said the existing smart boards and projectors are aging and increasingly costly to service. Finance and operations staff argued it is more economical to install new interactive boards that will last longer and offer clearer images. "You're looking at $1,200 to replace a projector; you buy a $1,750 brand-new board that's going to last us the next 10 years," a district speaker said. The board approved a motion to replace smart boards (excluding Eisenhower Elementary because it will be addressed as part of the planned new building) and the vendor will remove old equipment and bring it to district surplus.

The district also sought and received approval for the upcoming school calendar; the board moved and seconded the calendar approval with no discussion and passed it by roll-call vote. Board members noted calendar dates were coordinated with neighboring institutions and designed with staff input.

Separately, the board approved routine consent-agenda items and a list of individuals and positions as presented on the meeting exhibit. A clerical correction was noted in the personnel records (an employee was incorrectly listed as resigned when that was not the case) and the superintendent asked that be corrected in the minutes.

All three items — the interactive-board replacement, school calendar and personnel approvals — passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
