The Montgomery City Planning Commission heard a presentation on a proposed expansion of data‑center development at 1055 Hyundai Boulevard and received extended public comment from nearby residents.
Trevor Cropp of Barge Design Solutions said the application—described as phase 1.5 of a larger development—would add two single‑story data halls of roughly 146,000 square feet each (about 293,000 square feet combined), sited about 650 feet south of Hyundai Boulevard. "These buildings are single story, approximately 38 feet tall, and they're located about 650 feet south of Hyundai Boulevard," Cropp said. He told the commission that stormwater management, parking and the primary boulevard entrance were built or under construction as part of the earlier phase.
A resident who identified herself as Kim (Kim Clyde) spoke at length during public comment, saying she and her family have lived on the property for generations and expressing fears that large expansions and annexation efforts threaten local livelihoods and property. "We are being faced with a lot of expansion out there that in our community, we don't think it's the best thing for us," she said, citing concerns about a road that could take part of her property, a planned traffic signal and potential air and noise impacts tied to nearby industrial activity.
Commissioners and staff framed the meeting as a public hearing rather than a decision tonight; they acknowledged the resident's concerns and encouraged follow‑up through the normal review channels. No formal vote on the data‑center application occurred at the meeting; next procedural steps would follow the commission's standard review and recommendation process.
