The mayor described Gallagher’s service as a reminder that "a community is only as strong as its care for those who have built a lifetime building it."
Andrea Gallagher accepted the honor and, in brief remarks, said she was deeply moved to be recognized in the chamber "where community decisions are made" and thanked the council and residents for their partnership in serving older adults and caregivers.
The dedication ceremony included a short presentation of a certificate and a photo opportunity with council members. No formal votes were required for the dedication.
The council noted Gallagher’s outreach work, publications (including a column in the Acorn newspaper), and awards as factors for the recognition.
