The Glendale City Council and Housing Authority used the opening of their Dec. 16 joint meeting to present a mayoral commendation to Peter Zovac, recognizing 27 years of service in the city’s community development and housing programs.

Mayor Ara Najarian and other councilmembers praised Zovac’s leadership, referencing more than 1,300 affordable housing units built and the agency’s long record of performance. Zovac thanked staff, credited his team for accomplishments, and said he felt confident retiring because of upcoming leaders prepared to take on responsibilities.

Councilmembers offered brief tributes and expressed gratitude for Zovac’s service; the council and authority then paused for photos and informal remarks before moving to the regular agenda.
