Murrieta engineering department reports completed roads, designs and ongoing construction; consent calendar approved

City engineering staff briefed the commission on recently completed CIP projects, projects in design and construction activity across Murrieta; commissioners approved the consent calendar without objection.
City engineering staff provided a summary of capital-improvement activity and maintenance work during the Nov. 19 meeting. Senior civil engineer James Ozoff listed recently completed efforts including a full four-way signal at Washington Avenue and Weeping Willow, pavement rehabilitation and asphalt overlays on Myriad Hot Springs Road and Clinton Keith Road, and slurry sealing of roughly 25% of residential streets and several collectors.
Staff described projects currently in design: a new traffic signal at Jefferson Avenue and Magnolia Street; protected left-turn phasing at Clinton Keith Road and Nutmeg Street; pavement rehabilitation on Jefferson Avenue from Los Alamos Road to Nutmeg Street; design work on Menifee Road; and an additional northbound travel lane on Whitewood Road from Hunter Road to Clinton Keith Road. Construction projects noted included pavement rehabilitation of Los Alamos Road, Antelope Road and Elm Street, placement of a right-turn pocket at Altamirietta Drive for Sam’s Club Plaza access, and the multi-lane widening of Merritt/Hot Springs Road from Margarita Road to Winchester Road.
The commission moved and approved the consent calendar items unanimously. Staff and commissioners thanked each other for the presentation and noted the ongoing growth in the city may produce follow-up items as projects are implemented and traffic patterns evolve.
