At its Dec. 2 meeting the Altoona Area School District board approved several routine administration recommendations, including an ATSI plan for Altoona Area High School for the 2025–26 school year, a contracted-services agreement for Altoona Area Junior High School theatre-costume and prop work, personnel appointments and a set of business-operations items.
Administration presented the Altoona Area High School ATSI plan and recommended approval; the board moved, seconded and approved the plan and the junior-high contract by voice vote. The personnel agenda was likewise approved in a single voice vote after a motion and second.
Under business operations the board authorized offering a set of dispositioned items for public sale through a closed-bid process: an Eager Beaver heavy-duty equipment trailer, Bobcat backhoe attachment, Bobcat snowblower attachment, Miller Trailblazer welder, and multiple Delta band and tabletop saws. The board also approved a 2025–2027 parking lease agreement with Blair Family Solutions. A board member asked whether the surplus sales would go to the highest bidder; staff (Miss Franks) confirmed the board planned to advertise on the website and award by closed bid to the highest bidder by the posted deadline.
The board moved through committee reports (none presented) and the board president recognized the recent death of alumnus Steve Tannehill; Superintendent Brad Hatch offered condolences and commended candidates who applied for the vacant seat. The meeting adjourned after these approvals.
Provenance: The ATSI plan recommendation, the drama-club contract, personnel approvals and the list of items for public sale appear in the meeting record; the closed-bid approach and lease term were stated by staff during the discussion.
