At its Dec. 16 meetings the Plan Commission and the Board of Public Works moved forward on several land-use and public-works items.
Plan Commission actions: The commission approved a conditional use permit for a proposed Panda Express restaurant with drive-through facilities, granting a deviation from the forward-stacking requirement under city code section 18-58(9)(g) subject to conditions. The commission required submission and approval of a certified survey map before issuance of zoning or building permits and noted concerns about sidewalks and municipal sanitary sewer that will also be addressed through the Board of Public Works as needed. The commission also approved a master sign plan for Weimbrenner Thoroughgood Shoes and tabled a preliminary plat pending additional information from the developer.
Board of Public Works recommendations: The Board recommended approval of a requested sign location on public property presented by Leadership Marshfield, recommended raising the lateral replacement reimbursement from $1,000 to $1,500 beginning in 2026 (with an additional $500 for laterals longer than 90 feet or deeper than 12 feet), recommended approval of a right-of-way plat and relocation order for right-of-way work subject to planning commission feedback, and recommended soliciting proposals for construction manager services for the Wildwood Plaza police department renovation. The Board also recommended authorizing execution of an agreement with Terra Venture Advisors of Eau Claire for real-estate acquisition services for the Vine Avenue and 4th Street reconstruction projects.
Next steps: Plan Commission conditions must be satisfied (survey map and any covenant approvals) before permits are issued; the Board of Public Works referrals will go to the common council for final approvals where required.
