Bannock County commissioners approved a cooperative agreement with the Idaho Transportation Department on a voice vote, authorizing the county to sign the document that permits tying Briscoe Road into Highway 91 during a widening project.

Lexi Jorgensen of the Idaho Transportation Department said the work will widen Highway 91 and asked the county to allow the temporary tie-in so there is not "some sort of buffer between the two roads," a change intended to improve connectivity and safety during construction.

Commissioners discussed jurisdictional control of the parcel and confirmed the state will manage the roadway section during construction; Speaker 2 moved to approve signature authority for the agreement, and the board voted in favor.

There was no recorded roll-call vote; the action was approved on a voice vote with commissioners answering "aye." The agreement is intended to facilitate the project and help secure grant funding tied to coordinated road access.

Next steps: county staff will finalize the signature and coordinate with ITD on the construction timeline and any necessary right-of-way details.
