Sarah Olsen introduced Holly Treat and Tony Cherico and praised their work leading Outdoor Pursuits at Bentonville High School, a class the presenter said reaches more than 300 students a year and provides hands-on instruction in activities such as fly fishing, kayaking, trap shooting, rock climbing and archery. Olsen highlighted the significant behind-the-scenes planning and logistics the program requires and praised the instructors’ commitment to inclusivity.
Treat and Cherico thanked the board, superintendent and community partners including the Bella Vista Fly Tyers, Arkansas Game and Fish and the Benton County Quail for volunteer support. They said the program helps students develop confidence and meaningful connections beyond the classroom.
The board and superintendent thanked the instructors and invited community members to chaperone future trips.
