Council approves zoning ordinances, bond issuance and multiple committee recommendations in omnibus votes
Summary

Committee recommendations: The public-utilities committee recommended and council approved (1) installation of a 158-foot, 10-inch sewer stub at the new Camp Hall pump station to serve the Avion Commons development, with Santee Cooper funding the full change order; (2) replacement of a water/sanitation vehicle (approximately $49,240) to be funded from Water & Sanitation R&R; and (3) acceptance of a $89,582 grant for the Cane Gully waterline project (SCID 25 SC 2048) with a 1:1 local match.
Finance committee actions approved on council included authorization allowing the county supervisor to settle Cedar Hill Acquisition LLC v. Berkeley County (see separate article) and approval of discrete fee-discretionary funding requests (e.g., up to $12,000 to Hanahan and smaller allocations for community ice/fencing). The council also approved an adjustment to the administration and judicial center project budget per committee recommendation; committee language included multiple funding sources and directed the county supervisor to amend and execute design-build contracts as necessary.
Other routine business: The council approved minutes for previous sessions, established committee and council meeting dates for 2026 (with the November meeting moved to November 16), and made nominations to boards and commissions. The next regular meeting was set for 01/26/2026 at the Berkeley County Administration Building.
