The Beauregard Parish School Board voted to purchase 144 acres near South Boulevard for $11,000 per acre to preserve land adjacent to South Boulevard High School for future expansion.

Administration said the property purchase was proposed as part of the district's 2025 bond process to secure remaining land surrounding East/South Boulevard High School and allow room for future campus expansion. "This will give us the remaining property surrounding East Boulevard South Boulevard High School from Pentecostal Church Road south to Amos Earhart," the presenter explained while describing the parcel and its strategic value.

The motion to consider purchasing the 144 acres was made and seconded; the board called for the vote and approved the purchase. One board member abstained, citing a "personal and professional relationship with Mr. Robertson," and the abstention was recorded by the presiding officer.

The administration said the purchase price was several thousand dollars below the appraisal and that acquiring adjacent property will preserve options for campus growth; no financing details beyond the bond-program link were provided at the meeting.

Trustees did not attach additional conditions to the purchase during the vote; staff indicated closing and next-steps logistics will be coordinated through the district offices.

The transaction was approved during the meeting and will be executed as part of the district's capital program funded through the 2025 bond process.
