Bremen CHSD 228 board adopts 2025 tax levy; approves calendar, contracts and personnel

The Bremen Community High School District 228 Board on Wednesday adopted the district's 2025 tax levy and approved a slate of routine business items, including the 2027 school calendar, an elevator restoration contract, and multiple personnel recommendations.

During new business the board considered Item 5.2, the 2025 tax levy and resolutions. The measure was moved, seconded and approved by roll call; Mister Patterson was the sole Nay vote. Finance staff previously told the board they were waiting for county guidance on property-tax matters but had concluded the district did not need to issue tax-anticipation warrants at this time.

The board also approved Item 5.3, the 2027 school calendar, following a recommendation from the Committee of the Whole. Item 5.4, an award for elevator restoration and recommissioning at 17101 71st Avenue, was recommended to be awarded to All Types Elevator, Inc.; the board voted to award the base bid plus alternates as presented. Item 5.1 (bills and payroll) was approved with two items placed on hold for later consideration.

On personnel, the board accepted a slate of retirements, resignations and new hires and approved a recommended change in position promoting Joseph Infatino to associate principal of Redmond High School effective July 2026. The personnel slate also included multiple new hires across district campuses and position changes identified in the personnel report.

Board members also voted to authorize travel and reimbursements for conference attendance, including the Cosmo National Conference in March 2026, under the district's travel reimbursement policy.

The board adjourned after announcing the next Committee of the Whole meeting on Jan. 13 and the next regular meeting on Jan. 20, 2026.
