Cheerleading MSAA waiver: The superintendent asked the committee to consider filing a Massachusetts School Administrators Association (MSAA) waiver to invite eighth-graders to participate on the winter cheerleading squad because the high-school roster fell below the eight-person threshold. A committee member moved the waiver and another seconded; members voted in the affirmative, 5-0.
Policy votes: The committee took two policies on second reading: policy ACB (equal access and annual evaluation of K–12 programming) and the corresponding procedures ACB‑R. Each policy received a motion and a second and passed unanimously (5-0).
Executive session: Chair moved that the committee enter executive session pursuant to Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3), to discuss strategy related to collective bargaining, arguing that an open meeting could have a detrimental effect on the committee's bargaining position. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members voting "yes." The open meeting adjourned and the committee proceeded to executive session.
The committee indicated it will return to public session only if required by law; no additional public votes were taken before the executive-session motion.
