Belle Vernon Area School District swears in members and elects board officers

The Belle Vernon Area School District board met Dec. 2 for its annual reorganization meeting, during which Judge Christner administered oaths of office to newly elected board members and officers were chosen for the coming year.
Judge Christner led the oath, asking each member to repeat, “Do solemnly swear or affirm,” before members signed their paperwork and posed for a group photo. After the oath, the board moved to appoint a temporary president to preside over reorganization business; Speaker 4 moved to appoint Amy Shrimp as temporary president, the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Nominations followed for board president. After nominations were closed and members stated their preferences, the board confirmed Mr. Curry as board president. Mr. Curry accepted, saying, “Thank you very much.” The board then nominated and elected a vice president by voice vote.
The reorganization meeting recessed after the officer elections and the board reconvened for its regular voting meeting at about 6:20 p.m.
The board announced a correction to the published calendar: the December reorganization will be held Dec. 8, not Dec. 1, and will update the official minutes accordingly. The meeting adjourned after routine business and appointments were completed.
