CAASA asks Carroll County for $5,000 as advocates report 27 county assaults in past year

The presenter said the hub logged roughly $90,000 in mileage across the 19 counties it covers and highlighted bilingual advocacy through staff including Yasmin Acosta and local on-call advocates.
The presenter characterized the county contribution as insufficient for relocation and crisis-response costs, saying, “We are receiving $1,000 from Carroll County. And I can tell you that isn't enough” for a relocation and related expenses. Board members and CAASA staff then discussed records for prior years: the presenter and staff asked county staff (Courtney) to verify whether prior contributions were $1,000 or $2,000 and to reconcile invoices and payments.
Board chair (Speaker 1) told CAASA that the county would consider the request during the next budget deliberations. No formal vote was taken on additional funding at this meeting.
