The Cherry Creek School District board approved the Dec. 8 agenda, minutes and a consent package, heard opening remarks celebrating veteran events and bond projects, and welcomed newly seated directors Mike Hamrick and Terry Bates.
The Cherry Creek School District Board of Education opened its Dec. 8 meeting with routine business and introductions, approving the meeting agenda, the minutes and a consent package by roll call vote.
President Egan called for a motion to approve the agenda, which was moved and seconded and carried after a roll call in which directors recorded unanimous 'Aye' votes. The board later moved to approve the minutes listed on the agenda and then a consent agenda covering resolutions 25.12.01 through 25.12.11; both motions passed on roll-call votes.
Egan used opening remarks to thank the Horizon Community Middle School hosts, recognize staff for completing the annual audit and for managing bond projects, and to highlight the CCIC expansion. He said the CCIC beam-signing marked progress on the district career-and-technical program and that CCIC will expand to serve roughly 70% more students and add nine new high-demand career pathways.
The board welcomed newly elected and seated directors Mike Hamrick and Terry Bates. Hamrick, a veteran, recounted attending Veterans Week events across elementary and middle schools; Bates, a longtime Cherry Creek parent and two-decade resident, said he was honored to serve and congratulated students and staff on recent honors including Eagle Crest High School’s selection for the 2025 Colorado Thespian Conference.
The board announced its next regular meeting for Monday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at Thunder Ridge Middle School, 5250 South Piccadilly Street in Aurora, and adjourned the meeting after unanimous assent.
The meeting included multiple presentations and public comments that the board said it would review further.
