Board approves appointments, $5,000 Juneteenth allocation; several appointments confirmed

At the meeting the Nelson County Board of Supervisors confirmed several appointments and approved a $5,000 Juneteenth funding allocation for next year’s budget planning.
Deborah White was nominated and appointed to the Agriculture and Forestal Advisory Committee to fill a vacated slot; a motion to appoint her passed on roll call. The board also moved and approved appointments to the Board of Equalization, reappointing Martin Belew, James Clinton Bibb and Thomas Nelson Jr., all of whom have served previously.
Separately, Speaker 5 moved to allocate $5,000 to the Juneteenth celebration and to direct staff to include the amount as a line item in the county’s FY27 budget materials; the motion was seconded and approved on roll call. Staff was instructed to process the allocation in the same manner as other community contributions.
