Angels Camp approves county request for an additional ballot drop box near City Hall

The county clerk‑recorder and registrar of voters asked Angels Camp staff in November to consider a more visible, secure location for a permanent ballot drop box. Staff recommended siting a clearly marked drive‑through drop box near the utility drive‑through at City Hall — a location familiar to residents — and discussed possible alternative or additional sites, including the police department and fire station.

Council members raised security and visibility questions; staff noted cameras exist around Police Department and City Hall and said they would confirm camera coverage of the proposed site. Council approved the request and included the Angels Camp Fire Station as an additional location if the county desires multiple boxes.
