Planning board recommends redevelopment plan for Hudson Radiology parcels on Broadway

Planner Brian Slough presented a redevelopment plan for the Hudson Radiology parcels on Broadway (Block 158, Lots 22–24) intending to replace a low‑rise medical office and parking with a six‑story residential building that would include a taller ground floor for parking and limited retail or office space to activate the street.

Slough said the plan balances pedestrian activation on Broadway with higher density housing in walking distance to the 34th Street light‑rail station. The draft development regulations allow studios, one‑ and two‑bedroom units (minimum sizes specified), up to 90% lot coverage with required rear setbacks, rooftop and streetscape standards, and parking ratios that reflect transit proximity.

Board members raised standard questions about curb cuts and ground‑floor activation; planner noted an existing curb cut on Broadway will remain because side‑street access is impractical. After discussion the board recommended the redevelopment plan to the City Council.

The recommendation is advisory to council; final zoning and redevelopment approvals are decided by the City Council and may be subject to further refinements.
