The council voted Dec. 16 to award a contract for Musco lighting at the city's volleyball park after staff presented a photometric plan and equipment list.

Discussion focused on pole height and aiming to limit offsite light. Staff materials included a photometric exhibit; there was confusion in the meeting about whether poles were 20 feet or 50 feet. City staff later stated they would verify the specification and that the poles are 50 feet as currently proposed.

Council was told that a forthcoming budget amendment would cover an approximately $14,000 shortfall between the project cost and existing budgeted funds. On a motion and second, the council authorized awarding the contract.
