Superintendent sets ambitious proficiency targets and highlights new data platform rollout

The new superintendent presented a set of district priorities and measurable goals intended to drive instruction and evaluation across Scituate Public Schools, and staff described a recent rollout of the OpenArchitects student‑data platform to teachers.

Speaking to the committee, the superintendent identified six "power standards" and five specific goals, including school‑level professional practice, ELA and math proficiency targets and a district triennial improvement plan she hopes to complete by March 2026. For grades 2–5 she said the short‑term target is to approach 70% meets/exceeds by year end and expressed a three‑year aim of "80 to 85% students proficient and advanced." "I want to approach 70% meets or exceeds expectations by the end of this year," she said, and described how OpenArchitects will help principals and teachers target interventions.

Kevin Lynch reported that on Nov. 10 the district held a full professional development day and rolled out the OpenArchitects dashboards to PK–12 staff, allowing teachers to access consolidated assessment data and to hold grade‑level half‑day data meetings to analyze results and plan interventions. Lynch said technical upload issues experienced earlier were resolved and that the district will share beginning‑of‑year benchmark summaries with families and present mid‑year benchmark data in February.

Committee members pressed for clarity on monitoring and asked that budget and outcome artifacts be collected to support quarterly reporting. The superintendent said she would provide stronger presentation materials and begin quarterly reports of year‑to‑date spending and program outcomes to give the committee clearer evidence of progress toward goals.

Next steps: principals will be asked to identify resource needs tied to the goals; the district plans to use OpenArchitects data in future meetings and to provide periodic public updates on benchmark progress.
