At the Dec. 16 DeKalb CUSD 428 Board meeting trustees approved a series of routine and programmatic items by motion and roll call.
Key approvals included: consent agenda items (minutes, personnel, purchase orders, payroll, financial reports, employment contract for an elementary restorative dean and surplus equipment disposal); certification of the 2025 levy paperwork to the county clerk; differential committee recommendations to pull $29,750.39; travel and professional-development approvals (Shape America conference travel, Courageous Principals professional development, Diligent/BoardDocs migration conference attendance using title funds); an agreement for DHS to enter the P-20 Illinois MTSS network with NIU; DHS choir field trip to Port Washington, Wisconsin; GLAD training for secondary staff; and curriculum and course proposals (dual-language curriculum partnership with Adelante; a new DHS Quantitative Literacy & Statistics course proposal).
Most items were presented as information or by staff presenters (Beatrice Salas for the 2026–27 calendar, district staff for BoardDocs migration, AJ Crook and Sarah Montgomery for the Adelante partnership, and Amy for the DHS course proposal). Roll calls were held for motions where required and the record shows affirmative votes for the listed items; one No vote was recorded on the bond-fund abatement resolution.
Why it matters: These approvals advance the districts operations, professional development and curriculum planning for the 2026 school year and authorize partnerships and travel that use grant/title funds in several cases.
Next steps: Administration will bring back details as necessary (calendar to ISBE by May 1, migration planning for BoardDocs/Community software, and follow-up on the NIU MTSS agreement implementation).
