Bangor City’s Infrastructure Committee discussed a request from Versant for an easement that would cross 29 Main Street, the site of the city’s Central Fire Station, and allow the utility to reroute lines and relocate poles. Director of Engineering Jeff Davis was noted as sitting at the table during the discussion.
A committee speaker explained that Versant needs to move two existing power poles and provide temporary power during the work, and that while standard right-of-way permits can be approved administratively by city engineering, any crossing onto city-owned property requires a formal easement approved by the full City Council. The staff representative said an agent authorization was signed on Dec. 2 and that the project is ongoing.
When a councillor asked whether the change was temporary or permanent, the representative responded that temporary power is needed now but that the configuration "will become permanent" after the work. The committee then considered a motion to authorize the city manager to execute the easement; the motion was made and seconded. The transcript does not record who moved or seconded the motion, nor does it record a vote tally or formal outcome at the committee level.
Committee members noted that final approval must take place at a full City Council meeting. The Infrastructure Committee adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
