Big Bear Lake council elects Randy Putz as mayor for 2026; reappoints committee and district chairs

At the close of its regular meeting, the Big Bear Lake City Council carried out its annual reorganization and committee-appointment process. The council solicited nominations, polled each member and completed votes by roll call.
Randy Putz was elected mayor for the 2026 term; council members also selected Kendi Segovia as mayor pro tem. The council confirmed Rick Herrick as chair of the Fire Protection District and Chuck Hicks as vice chair. For the Successor Agency, Chuck Hicks was named chair and Perry Melnick was selected as vice chair.
Councilmembers spoke in support of nominees and noted continuity and experience as factors in their choices. A city attorney and clerk oversaw polling procedures and confirmed that the council conducted nominations and roll-call voting according to the council rules of procedure.
