Bowling Green commission approves multiple promotions and new hires across city departments

The Bowling Green Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of personnel municipal orders on Dec. 2, confirming multiple promotions and probationary appointments across city departments.
The commission approved the promotion of Jakiya Patterson to Community Center Supervisor at Parker Bennett Community Center after Recreation Division Manager Cameron Lehi described her eight years with the department and commitment to youth programming. City HR staff also presented the promotion of Joshua Lee to trades worker electrician after Lee recently passed his master electrician exam.
Other approved appointments included Andrew (Drew) Prince as Construction Coordinator II in Public Works (a position added in the FY26 budget to support facilities and a new public safety training center), Kaylee Cook as Communications Dispatcher I in the Police Department, and Andrea Kitchens as Property Custodian in the Police Department; HR described competitive recruitment processes for each role.
The commission also reappointed members to the Contractor’s Licensing Board and appointed Jamie Johnson to the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Fran Bowen to the City-County Board of Adjustments. All personnel and board items passed on unanimous roll calls.
Staff said the appointments respond to organizational needs (facility expansions, retirements and coverage) and praised candidates’ qualifications. Each municipal order passed by recorded vote.
