Staff said the next bid opening is Dec. 18 for Beaumont Elementary and that Lincoln and Beaumont are scheduled for awards ahead of spring ground-breaking.
Wage consolidation: Staff proposed consolidating wage rates for utility painters and facility technicians to reduce step-up pay paperwork, increase role agility during school consolidations and align responsibilities (e.g., CDL, on-call, heavy equipment operators). The proposal is compensation reclassification only, not a change to job roles; staff said offsets could come from reduced substitute needs as technician roles decline through consolidation.
Calendar waiver and policies: Board members reviewed a proposed waiver to the Department of Public Instruction to start the 2026–27 school year one day earlier (late August) so construction teams can finish projects and staging; staff noted contingency plans if the waiver is not granted. Policy updates discussed included revisions to meeting rules (policy 1.70), class size policy (343.2) to reflect virtual course modalities, and internet-filtering policy updates tied to E‑Rate and CIPA compliance.
The meeting concluded with a motion under Wisconsin Statute 19.85 to convene into closed session for legal and personnel discussions; roll-call votes were recorded and the board entered closed session.
