Board member Andrew (speaker 14) then offered an amendment to modify the rule instead of repealing it. He said his changes would "change 'preside over' to 'facilitate,' add co-facilitators and remove the required pairing with the superintendent," and that the amendment addressed members’ concerns about scheduling and implied authority. The amendment was seconded and carried with all board members voting in favor.

"To vote to repeal this is something that does not help any individual — it takes away from those board members who would like to have this opportunity for facilitation," Andrew said in urging a no vote on repeal but a yes on his amendment.
