Medical-office proposal at 550 Main continued after applicant delay and neighbor safety concerns

The Springfield City Conservation Commission continued consideration of a request for determination for a proposed medical office at 550 Main Street (parcel O81320142) after staff reported the applicant’s representative would not be able to attend the Dec. 9 meeting due to a rear‑end automobile accident.
During the discussion, a man who identified himself as Adan Eliovich shared photos and plans and described existing site conditions. He said the proposed medical office appeared to sit close to the river and to the edge of the property. Adjacent-property speakers and commissioners raised safety and access concerns, saying a large billboard‑style sign appeared to be on or very near the adjacent property line, parking looked limited for a medical office and the proposed driveway alignment could create difficult or unsafe turning movements for vehicles.
Staff told the commission the applicant had indicated they would attend but that the representative had been delayed; the commission agreed to continue the item at the applicant’s request. Commissioners voted to continue consideration and staff said they would provide plan sketches and digital copies of submitted materials to commissioners and to neighboring property owners. The commission confirmed its next meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 5:00 p.m., when the item will be relisted on the agenda.
No formal determination or conditions were adopted at the Dec. 9 meeting. Several neighbors asked to be notified of future planning meetings; staff said adjacent property owners will receive notice.
