The Dickenson County Board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Dickinson County Food Bank clarifying that funds the board provides annually may be used for operational expenses such as fuel, insurance and other administrative costs, as well as for purchasing food for distribution.

County staff told the board the food bank receives restricted and unrestricted funds from multiple sources and that auditors and the food bank requested a formal MOU so the nonprofit can document the permissible use of county appropriations for both operations and food purchases. Board members and staff said this change does not alter the food bank’s mission to deliver food to residents but recognizes the operational costs involved in that mission.

The board approved the MOU by voice vote.
