Whitnall posts 78.6 on 2024–25 state report card; several schools exceed expectations

District staff presented the recently released 2024–25 state report cards and explained changes in state calculations that limit direct year-to-year comparisons.
The presenter said the state used a new standard-setting process and two years of achievement data this cycle, which affects comparability with prior years. Despite those methodological changes, the district reported an overall score of 78.6 and a performance level of “Exceeds Expectations.” The presenter noted the district ranked above roughly 86% of K–12 districts in Wisconsin on the overall measure.
School-level results: Edgerton and Hales Corners elementaries were rated “Significantly Exceeds Expectations”; Whitmill Middle School and the high school were rated “Exceeds Expectations.” The district also reported particularly strong math growth (math growth score 81.2) and an ELA growth score of 69.8, with the district at about the 90th percentile for growth.
The presenter cautioned that changes in how the state normed scores mean direct comparisons with prior years are not valid, but said the district can compare its growth relative to other districts. The board and staff discussed how building leadership committees used report-card data along with surveys to set focused building goals for the year.
What’s next: staff plans to share report-card materials with building leaders and celebrate staff achievements while using the data to target supports for groups of students identified in the target-group outcomes metric.
