Wethersfield board approves new meeting schedule for 2026–27, revises current calendar

The Wethersfield Board of Education on Nov. 25 approved a revised meeting cadence for the 2026–27 school year and unanimously adopted revisions to the current 2025–26 calendar.

Gabby DeBaco read a recommended motion asking the board to approve the 2026–27 regular meeting calendar. Superintendent Woodby described the proposal as “option B,” a split model that would hold workshop nights on the second Tuesday and board business nights on the fourth Tuesday, with committee meetings held immediately before the workshop. “Option B would be the 1 where it would be split between workshop and non workshop,” Woodby said, explaining the district’s preference to preserve committee expertise while increasing transparency when the full board reconvenes that same evening.

Board members asked about logistics (committee locations and whether meetings would be held in the Stillman Building), and Woodby said committees would begin in place at the district sites and return to the full board for discussion before any voting. Trustees stressed the potential efficiency gains from reducing the overall number of separate meetings while preserving opportunities for committee-level work and public reporting.

After discussion, the board took a voice vote and the chair announced the motion carried. The board then approved a separate motion from Mindy Gold to adopt revisions to the 2025–26 meeting calendar; Woodby clarified that December would remain on the existing schedule and the new meeting format would begin in January.

The two calendar actions were taken by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
