The Village of Villa Park on Nov. 19 approved a resolution authorizing employee and retiree medical, dental, vision and life insurance effective Jan. 1, 2026, after staff reported competitive renewal quotes from Blue Cross Blue Shield obtained through a new broker, Brown & Brown.
Brown & Brown representatives told trustees the initial renewal quotes included a 25% increase, which negotiations reduced to an overall increase of roughly 17–18% across medical, dental, vision and life plans, with dental rates decreasing about 4% after a $10,000 premium credit. Vision and group life rates were described as locked with no change for a year or more (vision guaranteed through Jan. 1, 2028; life through Jan. 1, 2029). The broker said the final package keeps benefits unchanged while lowering the insurer’s initial proposal.
Trustee Sabri moved the resolution; Trustee Cozart seconded. The board approved the resolution by roll-call vote.
