PAB seeks more outreach and a feedback alternative after county rejects 'commendation' button; plans shorter annual report and seeks longer member terms

Chair (S1) said the goal is to inform residents about the board's role rather than to solicit more complaints. He told members Todd is unavailable due to illness but had volunteered to present to the Hampstead American Legion when they confirm a February date. Lisa volunteered to draft standardized talking points so presentations carry a consistent message.
S5 (Bethany, PAB staff) said county website policy did not allow a button explicitly labeled 'commendation.' As an alternative, she suggested a more generic 'other feedback' field or a link labeled to reach the PAB that would email the chairman's Carroll County account. "Initially, it seemed like that might be okay to say to reach out to the PAB with questions, comments," S5 said; she has not finalized the text due to time constraints.
The board also discussed the end-of-year report. Chair S1 said the county resolution requires the report to identify trends and recommendations; the board will produce a shorter, more succinct report that will embed agency statistics (calls for service, traffic stops) to provide balance rather than long narrative detail. S1 and Tom plan to present the shortened report and the proposal to amend the resolution to three-year member terms to the county commissioners in February if scheduling allows.
Next steps: Bethany will continue work on a website feedback link and collect statistics from departments for the report; the PAB will publicize outreach presentations once dates are confirmed, and will raise the term-length amendment with the county commissioners.
