Resident urges Moffat County to stop funding clerks' association, cites election-integrity concerns

During the public-comment portion of the Dec. 9 meeting, Craig resident Tracy Winder addressed the Moffat County Board of County Commissioners and urged the board to stop using county tax dollars to pay membership fees or other expenses for county clerk and recorder staff who belong to the Colorado County Clerks Association (CCCA).
Winder said the CCCA's website, press releases and reports on election integrity are "misleading at best and downright untruthful in many cases" and alleged the organization is "plagued by conflicts of interest." She told the board that because the CCCA is a nongovernmental organization, records are not available via CORA and county residents therefore cannot know what staff are being taught. Winder said county employees are free to belong to the organization but asked that the county consider defunding the expense.
The commissioners thanked Winder for her comment; no formal action was taken during the meeting and no staff response or motion to change funding was made.
