A member of the 1 Book 1 Putnam committee described the book as a "heartwarming tale" and thanked the county for its long-running support. "We appreciate the support of Stella and the library system and Misha for all that they do to make us so successful," the speaker said.
The proclamation recognizes reading as a community-building activity and encourages residents of all ages to participate in book discussions, library events and volunteer-led programming. Committee members noted they are volunteer-run and rely on donations for events and author appearances, and they encouraged residents to share event information with county staff so outreach can promote programming.
Next steps: the committee said the kickoff will be Jan. 15 at the Golf Club and that author Shelby Van Pelt is expected to appear at the finale; the board encouraged coordination with county communications to publicize events.
