Council defers vote on interlocal annexation agreement with Yukon for two weeks

Council heard a briefing on an interlocal agreement with the city of Yukon that would de‑annex a parcel currently in Yukon (around I‑40 & Gregory Road) and annex it into Oklahoma City, while simultaneously transferring smaller parcels near Yukon Parkway to Yukon. Kenny Sewell of the Alliance for Economic Development said the net gain to Oklahoma City would be roughly 130 acres and that Yukon had already approved the agreement on its side (SEG 2569–2679).
Sewell explained the agreement includes revenue‑sharing and use restrictions on some parcels and noted the process would still require formal annexation hearings in both cities. Some councilmembers asked practical questions about ward impacts and timing. Councilmember requested a short deferral to continue discussions; the council voted unanimously to defer item AZ to the Dec. 2 meeting so staff and councilmembers could finalize details and meet with counterpart officials in Yukon (SEG 2740–2771).
Staff said no immediate pressure existed from Oklahoma City’s side and that the next Yukon council meeting timing had been checked as part of the scheduling. The deferral gives staff time to answer outstanding questions raised by councilmembers ahead of formal annexation actions.
