Garrard County board recognizes students and staff advancing to state, national and international competitions

The Garrard County Board of Education opened its meeting by recognizing students and staff for recent achievements and service.
Superintendent noted the Garrard County High School marching band advanced to nationals and congratulated members who competed in Indianapolis. He also recognized JAG students who qualified for national competition, naming Bethany Sizemore, Cara Mead and Delia Morris, and multiple Odyssey of the Mind teams that advanced to international/world competition.
The board recognized staff members, naming Kathy Cusick as office equipment staff member of the month and Joy Arnott as Whittaker Bank teacher of the month. The superintendent read a letter from sophomore Jasmine Lunsford Johnson praising bus driver Cathy: "She not only cares about the students on her bus," the letter said, asking that Cathy receive recognition.
Students of the month named included Olivia Watts and William Blanchard; board members congratulated the honorees and noted plans to approve related field trip requests on the consent agenda.
The recognitions were presented early in the meeting; several honorees and teams were noted as advancing to state, national or international competitions, and the board approved related field trips as part of the consent agenda later in the session.
