At its Dec. 16 meeting the Coeur d'Alene City Council approved several operational and administrative items, including technology, water-treatment equipment, capital project change orders and a routine banking authorization.
ERP software upgrade: City Treasurer/Finance Director Katie requested $66,049.85 in additional budget authority to migrate the city's Springbrook enterprise resource planning system to Springbrook's new cloud product 'Cirrus' because the existing version is phasing out vendor support. Katie said the city hopes to have the new system in place in time for the March budget processes; council approved Resolution 25,071 by roll call.
America 250 grant application: Hillary from planning asked council to authorize applying for a $2,500 America 250 in Idaho grant to co-host a July 3, 2026 event with the Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission celebrating Idaho statehood and the county courthouse centennial. Council authorized application and acceptance if awarded (Resolution 25,072).
Water-treatment unit: The Water Department recommended awarding a $122,575 contract to Filtration Technologies for a 15-lb-per-day Mioxx chlorine-generation unit for the Locust Well to replace older gas-chlorine equipment and meet DEQ residual requirements (staff noted a target of about 0.2 ppm residual); council approved Resolution 25,074.
Police Support Services building change orders: Building maintenance staff requested ratification of two change orders totaling $16,320.55 related to the Police Support Services building (over-excavation and recompaction to address unsuitable soils; utility trenching and vaults for a future PD training center; electrical/data additions; bollard removal). Insurance proceeds were identified as the funding source; council ratified the change orders (Resolution 25,075).
Bank signature authorization: Council approved Resolution 25,076 to add Mayor Daniel K. Gookin as an authorized signer on city bank and investment accounts effective Jan. 7, 2026, preserving dual-signature internal controls.
Why it matters: These approvals address operational continuity (software), public-health compliance (chlorination), capital-project completion (change orders), civic celebration planning (grant application) and routine finance administration (signer authorization). Council approved each item by roll call during the meeting.
