Representatives of Saint John Youth Baseball presented a proposed replacement for a two‑year lease that is set to expire in March and asked the St John Town board to place the proposal on the board’s next meeting agenda for formal approval.
"It was reviewed by legal," a presenter said, adding the contract was sent to the board "on the fifth." Josh Katic, who introduced himself during the presentation as "the president," said the group recommends a three‑year term so the next organization leadership can renegotiate if desired. He described recent program growth, a light travel program to retain players and roughly $100,000 in facility‑related revenue over the recent period.
Board members asked questions about field security and whether the group would remain on the current fields; SJYB representatives said the fields are kept locked and that they have a security system and volunteers watching the property. One member said she would like to see the item on next month’s agenda for a formal vote.
The board did not take a formal vote on the lease at the meeting; the presenters requested placement on the next meeting’s agenda for approval. The item will return to the board for action at that time.
