The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 15 approved several routine actions including payroll/claims, personnel hires, an interjurisdictional workforce agreement and limited public use of a county parking lot.
The board approved payment of claims and payroll reimbursements totaling $1,630.56. The motion passed by voice vote with named affirmations during roll call.
Julie Zelensky was appointed to a second full term on the County Conservation Board beginning Jan. 26 after a motion and second; the board approved the appointment by voice vote.
Supervisors voted to enter an agreement with the Eastern Iowa Workforce Development Area to combine district resources and coordinate workforce-development dollars. As Shane McCampbell explained, the consolidation aims to maintain local control while improving funding for regional workforce services.
The board also authorized limited public use of the county parking lot after confirming coverage with the county’s insurance carrier, with a request that users be mindful of spaces needed by courthouse, public-health and jail customers.
Personnel actions approved included two hires for the correctional center: Casper Miller, part-time cook at $16.80 per hour, and Addison Clayton, a full-time correctional officer whose listed pay equates to $50,072.77 for the cited pay period/hours. The board also approved unpaid time entries for motor-vehicle clerk Alana Katz (5.21 hours on 11/18/25; 2.96 hours on 11/19/25; 2.25 hours on an additional date) and approved the Nov. 18, 2025 meeting minutes.
