The Garfield Heights City School District board unanimously approved Resolution 25 20 25-48 on Nov. 24 to accept updated tax rates the county issued after a certification correction.
The vote was taken at a special work session called to address the county's corrected figures. "Tax rates, county, did not certify our renewal levy originally when we passed it on November 4," said Mister Oco, a board member. "They sent us new tax rates. They said they have to get them in by November 26. They told us that on Friday evening. That's why we're here tonight to do it."
The presiding official asked for a motion to approve "resolution 25 20 25Dash48 accepting tax rates as presented." Miss Cox moved the resolution, and Miss Morrison seconded. The board approved the measure in a roll-call vote, with Miss Cox, Miss Morrison, Missus Daniels and Doctor King each answering "Yes." The meeting record shows a 4-0 vote in favor.
Board members also approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session; that procedural motion was moved by Missus Daniels and seconded by Miss Cox. After the resolution vote, the board approved a motion to adjourn; the meeting ended at 6:03 p.m.
The board did not record additional discussion, amendments or objections to the resolution during the session. The county-imposed deadline mentioned by board members remained the most recent procedural development noted during the meeting.
