The Shippensburg Area School District board convened its reorganization meeting and administered certificates of election and oaths to four newly elected directors before electing new officers.
Mr. Barwin read certificates confirming the election of Drew Alosi (School Director, District A), Dr. Michael Lyman (School Director, District C), Dr. Nathan Goetz (School Director, District C) and Becky Wolfinger (School Director, District B). The newly elected members were sworn in; the oath included supporting the constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth and discharging the duties of office with fidelity.
With newly elected members seated, the board moved to select officers. Following nominations and a roll-call vote, Darren Donovan was elected board president by a 9–0 tally; the board then elected Drew Alosi vice president after a separate roll-call vote that the chair announced as 7–2 in Alosi’s favor.
Board members discussed the process for assigning committee chairs and representatives, with the presiding officer confirming that appointing committee chairs is a board president function. The board listed slots that will be filled at the January meeting, including representation for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, the Franklin County Career & Technical Center/JOC, the Pennsylvania School Boards Association legislative representative, and multiple district standing committees (facilities, budget and finance, negotiations, policy, transportation, athletics, outreach and safety, fiscal efficiency, curriculum and student engagement, programming and planning).
The reorganization portion concluded with a transition to the planning and action meeting.
