The Central Unified Board of Trustees recorded a series of unanimous approvals at its Dec. 9 meeting. Highlights and outcomes follow.
Organizational elections - Board President: Trustee Carrillo — motion carried 7-0 (voice vote). - Vice President: Trustee Sellers — motion carried 7-0 (voice vote). - Clerk of the Board: Trustee Kurfon — motion carried 7-0 (voice vote).
Consent and action items (selected) - Consent agenda (including resolutions declaring Hmong New Year and other proclamations): approved unanimously. - Accept gifts to district (assorted cash and in-kind donations for ASB, theater, mock trial, library): approved unanimously. - First interim positive certification (business/finance): approved unanimously (see separate article for details). - PAR supplemental retirement plan (resolution 25-26-1): approved unanimously. - Approve new secondary course (AP Precalculus): approved unanimously; districtwide course adoption to proceed with campus offering depending on staffing and student interest. - Approve elementary supplemental instructional material (film adaptation of The Wild Robot): approved unanimously. - Approve emergency ELO-P staffing contract (not-to-exceed, grant-funded): approved unanimously. - Approve digital marquee procurement for Madison Elementary via CMAS: approved unanimously.
The board also received multiple informational items that will return for action or continued consideration in January, including facilities master-plan contracts, deferred maintenance planning and change orders for the Justin Garza athletic complex.
Motions were handled primarily by voice vote; when tally language was recorded, motions carried unanimously with no recorded opposing votes or abstentions.
