The Utah Boating Advisory Council met Dec. 2 to review scoring criteria and logistics for two Clean Vessel Act (CVA) applications and 19 Boating Access grant proposals that staff will present for ranking in January.
Chair Jeff Salt turned the meeting over to Jorge Vasquez, recreation grant analyst, and Craig Walker, assistant chief of fisheries with the Division of Wildlife Resources, who outlined program scope and the rubric reviewers will use. Craig Walker said the Division receives about $900,000 annually from federal excise funds and that Outdoor Recreation provides the 25% match, “so we roll with around $1,200,000 annually” to spend on boating access projects.
