Boyertown Area School Board elects Anthony Panarello president; two new members sworn in

Anthony Panarello was elected president of the Boyertown Area School District Board of Directors during the board’s annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025. The meeting also included ceremonial oaths for newly elected members and a unanimous vote to continue existing administrative signatures.
The meeting opened at 7 p.m. at the Boyertown Area School District Education Center. After the pledge of allegiance and a brief announcement of holdover members — James Brophy (Region 2), Wendy Kratz (Region 3), Christine Nieman (Region 1), Brad Uptegrove (Region 2) and Roger Uptegrove (Region 3), each with terms noted as ending in 2027 — the board nominated and approved a temporary president by acclamation, seating Brad Uptegrove to preside while officers and nominations were conducted.
Judicial officers administered oaths of office to multiple newly elected members. Judges Drumheller and Sailor (with Judge Schromhiller referenced during the ceremony) administered the oath to Matt Weir and Michelle Wylie, who were sworn in and then joined other newly elected members for photographs. Judges later administered the oath to Montgomery County–area members, including Anthony Panarello and Lynn Connor.
Following nominations for permanent officer positions, Anthony Panarello was nominated and declared elected president after the board completed a roll-call procedure. Nominations for vice president were opened and Roger Uptegrove was put forward; the board indicated it would finalize officer and committee placements following additional internal discussion.
The board voted to authorize continued use of the district’s current signatures for routine administrative purposes. A motion to authorize the continued signatures was moved and seconded and carried on a roll-call voice vote in which each named member recorded an affirmative response; the chair declared, "Ayes have it." During the meeting the board also confirmed that Matthew Lentz will remain board secretary and Carrie Fox will remain treasurer; the board designated its BCTC representative as Uptegrove (with an alternate noted as Nyman) and its BCIU representative as Brophy.
President Panarello said he will delay announcing committee assignments until the board’s Jan. 13 meeting to consult with new members. Several board members offered brief welcome remarks to the newest members and emphasized collaboration and prioritizing students as the board’s focus in the coming year.
With no public comment and no further business, a motion and second were made and the meeting was adjourned.
