Administrators presented the district's comprehensive-planning AR and timeline (kickoff Dec. 15; board approval expected by March), updated district vision/mission aligned to the strategic plan, and reviewed 2025 academic standards updates including new technology/science language and curriculum ties to PDE standards. No policy vote taken.
The policy committee reviewed Policy 100 and associated administrative regulations to begin the district's three-year comprehensive planning cycle required by Pennsylvania law.
Superintendent (Speaker 2) said the district added an administrative regulation (AR) to Policy 100 to outline stages and steps for comprehensive planning and recommended adopting the AR to guide the process. He said the kickoff meeting is scheduled for December 15 and the plan will be brought to the board for approval around March.
The committee also reviewed Policy 101 updates to district vision and mission that reflect the board-approved strategic plan; the superintendent read draft language emphasizing a "welcoming and innovative learning community" and replacing previously non-measurable 'goals' with 'values.' He said the strategic-plan process involved multiple community meetings and roughly 100 participants in planning sessions.
On Policy 102, Superintendent (Speaker 2) outlined the 2025 academic standards update (policy last adopted in 2015), highlighting revisions in science and technology standards and how curriculum aligns with Pennsylvania Department of Education standards. A board member asked whether the district should create a dedicated AI class; the superintendent said AI is being integrated across grades and courses (including elementary through purchased platforms and targeted secondary studies) but there is not a standalone AI course in current policy.
These items will return for consideration in future committee meetings; staff recommended bringing clean copies forward for first-read action at future legislative meetings.
