Parks staff reviewed the department’s financial status, recent and upcoming programs, project updates and draft goals for 2026 during a regular Park and Rec Commission meeting. The staff presentation emphasized that the financial stat pack reflects program registration revenue but does not capture all Village receipts or some sponsorship income that may be reported separately to Village Hall.
The staff summary named long-term renters that contribute to revenue, including West Bend School District, Kettlebrook Church and the Boys and Girls Club. Recent community events highlighted by staff included the Fall Festival of Fun and the village Christmas tree lighting; staff noted intermittent issues with the lighting that they are investigating.
On projects, staff reported that the Jackson Community Center expansion is largely complete but that warranty items remain under review, and that the dog park is moving forward: "They are anticipating having the trails completed with mulch by the January," a staff member said, and that fence and concrete entry work is expected in spring. Staff said naming-right and sponsorship opportunities for the dog park and the expanded Music in the Park series will be rolled out shortly.
Staff said the parks, recreation and open space plan is about 50% through the first draft and is expected to be presented to commissioners in January or February for review as part of a five-year planning cycle.
A motion to place the director's report on file passed by voice vote; commissioners also voted to put the department goals for 2026 on file. Commissioners asked staff to prioritize programming for older youth when finalizing goals.
The reports were placed on file; next steps include finalizing the 2026 goals with the village administrator and presenting the draft Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan to the commission in the first quarter of the year.
