Board approves contract amendment adding streetlight design; director reports on dog park and Maple Fields complaints

The board approved an amendment to Grama and Associates' contract to add streetlight design for three streets and scheduled a public involvement meeting for Dec. 9. Director of Public Works Jack Strahler reported the dog park is underway and said he will contact the developer over resident complaints about trees and sediment from the Maple Fields site.
The Village of Jackson Board of Public Works on Nov. 25 approved contract amendment number 3 for Grama and Associates, increasing the contract to $309,667 to cover additional work including streetlight engineering and design on three streets.
Speaker 4 asked whether the streetlight design was part of the original contract. Director of Public Works Jack Strahler said the streetlights were incorporated later and that the additional roughly $7,842 covers engineering and design for street lights on the affected streets. He told the board a public involvement meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9 and that residents within the project limits received mailings. "So that will be discussed at that meeting," Strahler said. He added that the project currently has We Energies streetlights that will be switched over and that any assessment conversations (whether residents will be assessed) are for future discussion.
In his director's report, Strahler updated the board on several items: final pay requests and change orders are being closed out, the Hickory Lane project is under its one‑year correction period, the O&M manual for the wastewater plant was received enabling final loan reimbursement requests, the dog park site work is underway with trees removed and mulch staged, and phase‑3 preconstruction work for Maple Fields is scheduled to start soon with Clark Dietz as inspector and We Energies participating.
Strahler said he had received resident complaints from Sherman Park and Twin Creeks about trees and mud entering neighborhood detention ponds from Maple Fields construction and that he would contact the developer's Mr. Anderson to pursue resolution. "I will reach out to Mr. Anderson and let him know that we have some complaints from the Sherman Park neighborhood... and kind of report that back to the person I spoke to in the Sherman Park subdivision," Strahler said.
The board carried the contract amendment motion and placed the Director's report on file.
